Imagine, by the end of the weekend…

An adult learner smiling during a live online Sanskrit class

Real adult beginners, learning live from home.

You introduce yourself in Sanskrit - a whole sentence, spoken aloud, in your own voice.
You put together a simple Sanskrit sentence on your own, without reaching for a translation.
In a mantra or shloka you’ve chanted for years, you start to recognise a familiar word or two.
For the first time, you have a clear path - and the quiet confidence that you can walk it.
Why This, Why Now

You’ve Wanted to Learn Sanskrit for Years.
The Grammar Tables Stopped You.

It was never a lack of interest. You love the mantras, the yoga, the Bhagavad Gita, the sheer beauty of the Sanskrit language. But every book you opened began with dense grammar tables, every app faded after a week, and every YouTube playlist left you exactly where you started - with no visible progress and no one to ask.

What’s been missing is not effort. It’s a structured beginning, taught live by a patient teacher who starts exactly where you are. This workshop is that beginning - two calm mornings where you don’t memorise tables, you actually make sentences.

“I’ve always wanted to learn Sanskrit” - this is where that finally begins.

An adult sitting peacefully with an open Sanskrit book in warm morning light

A quiet morning, a patient teacher, and a real first step.

What You Take Away

More Than Words on a Page

This is a beginner’s foundation - the very basics of how Sanskrit works, taught so you can use them the same day. By Sunday evening, you’ll be forming simple sentences on your own.

Your First Sentences

Build simple Subject-Object-Verb sentences in Sanskrit - singular and plural - from the very first session, not months from now.

Introduce Yourself

Learn to greet, introduce yourself and speak the everyday courtesies of Sanskrit - the confidence of your first real spoken words.

Everyday Words & Verbs

Easy, useful verbs, the days of the week, numbers, and how to say today, tomorrow and yesterday - vocabulary you can put to work at once.

Pronouns, Genders & Time

He, she, it; the genders of words; and how to tell the time - the small building blocks that make sentences come alive.

A Real Subhāṣitam

Read and understand a simple Sanskrit shloka - a subhāṣitam - and taste the quiet joy of grasping a verse in its original words.

A Foundation to Build On

A solid, honest beginning - the foundational concepts you can carry forward into deeper study whenever you’re ready.

The Two-Day Curriculum

A Practical, Playful Weekend

Two live sessions, each building gently on the last. No grammar tables to memorise - just clear, spoken Sanskrit you use as you learn it.

Is This Right for Me?

Honest Guidance Before You Enrol

A good fit if…

  • You’re a complete beginner - this starts at the very beginning
  • You love mantras, yoga, the Bhagavad Gita or Indian philosophy and want to know the language behind them
  • You’ve been put off by grammar-first books and want a structured, spoken start
  • You want a patient live teacher, not another app or playlist
  • You’re an adult who has always meant to get to Sanskrit, and now is the time

Motivated younger learners are welcome too - anyone 10 or older can join.

Not the right fit if…

  • You expect to read the Bhagavad Gita, Vedas or Upanishads on your own after two days - this covers only the basics
  • You’re looking for an advanced or grammar-intensive course
  • You expect Sanskrit fluency in a weekend - this is a first step, honestly meant

This workshop is a beginning, not a finishing line. Its job is to light the spark - gently, and well.

Questions Learners Ask

Frequently Asked

What exactly will I learn in this workshop?
You’ll be introduced to the basics of the Sanskrit language - how sentences are formed - and you’ll be able to make short, meaningful sentences on your own by the end. It is a warm, beginner-friendly introduction, not a complete language course.
Are 2 days really enough to learn Sanskrit?
This is a true beginner’s workshop, not a shortcut to fluency. You’ll leave with a real foundation and your first experience of using the language - not the illusion that you’ve mastered it.
I don’t know Hindi or the Sanskrit alphabet. Can I still join?
Yes, absolutely. The medium of instruction is English, and no Hindi or prior Sanskrit is needed. You don’t even need to know the alphabet - all notes and explanations come with transliteration in Roman script.
What is the schedule and where are classes held?
It is a one-weekend workshop held live on Zoom - Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2026, from 7:00 to 9:30 AM US Pacific each day. Your own local time is shown at the top of this page.
How do I join after paying?
Once your payment is confirmed, you’ll be added to a WhatsApp group where all class details, the Zoom link and reminders are shared. Key links are sent by email too.
What if I miss a session?
Every session is recorded and stays available for one month, so you can catch up or revise at a time that suits you.
Will there be a test or a certificate?
There’s a short, friendly test at the end of each session to help your learning settle in - and yes, every participant who completes the workshop receives a Certificate of Participation.
Are there any prerequisites?
None at all. This workshop is for absolute beginners. You need no prior Sanskrit, Hindi or chanting experience - only curiosity and a willingness to try. Anyone aged 10 and above can join.
Will we learn the alphabets in this workshop?
Not in this workshop. Learning the Devanagari / Sanskrit alphabet takes steady practice, which is more than two mornings allow, so we keep this workshop focused on speaking and forming simple sentences. All notes come with Roman transliteration, so you can follow along without knowing the script. We do run a separate course dedicated to the alphabets, and if you would like to learn those, just contact us and we will be glad to help you join it.
Will this let me read the Bhagavad Gita or Vedas on my own?
Not yet - and we want to be honest about that. This is a two-day beginner workshop covering foundational basics. Reading scriptures independently is a longer journey; this is a genuine, joyful first step towards it, and we’ll point you to what comes next.
What does it cost, and is the fee refundable?
The workshop is $20 USD, paid securely via Stripe. The fee is non-refundable, so please do reach out with any questions before enrolling - we’re glad to help you decide if it’s the right fit.
Still have a question?
We’d be happy to help - just contact us and we’ll get back to you.
