In some books, I found पुंलिङ्ग (masculine gender) is written as पुल्लिङ्ग - Which is the correct one?

In Sanskrit, पुंलिङ्गम् and
In Sanskrit, पुंलिङ्गम् and पुंल्लिङ्गम् both these words are correct. There should always be an anuswara on पु.
The root of पुंलिङ्गम् is पुंस् (पुम्) which means man or masculine.
पुल्लिङ्ग - the word without an anuswara on
पु, could be a word in Hindi.
