How to learn Sanskrit or any other language faster!

To learn a new language is an exciting task to take up but also a tough nut to crack. But that does not mean you have to miss out on this rewarding skill. So here is a proven technique that will make this experience easy.

Patanjali's Yoga Sutra

The point here is to put yourself in such a situation where you have ample exposure for growth. If you place yourself in situations where you get the chance to speak or write the language, you will grow better in learning that language. Our brain will automatically brainstorm as it will have no other option but to attempt to use that new language. But like any other language, practice is the key. You must consciously put in efforts and create occasions for yourself where you can utilize the said language. You must allow yourself to step out of the comfort zone and not letting yourself step back. It requires dedication but the efforts will be worthwhile.

It is often argued that the best way to learn a language is to reside in that particular country but that is false. It is often observed that when you reside in a country without knowing the native language of that place chances are that the people there will converse with you in a common language, mostly in English. Hence, your brain will take the easier route. In such a situation, growth is stagnant. You will not achieve the desired result when it comes to learning a new language.

To avoid this, there are plenty of other methods you can opt. Few of them include switching your cell phone and social media language to the language you are willing to learn. Commit yourself further and find a language tutor, language partner or a language group. You can also try visual cues by sticking down or writing common and new words in that language whenever you come across one.

As you go through your day and practice using your learned new language, the key is to resist the urge to feel conscious about your conversation. Instead, drag yourself out of your comfort zone and out yourself in situations where you are vulnerable to use the newly learned language. Only when you start noticing and learning from the ups and downs of the learning process, you will succeed in your journey giving you more learning opportunities. Do not be afraid of mistakes. More the mistakes, better is the learning!

Success in learning a new language comes when you try. Following this technique will make learning your new language easier and fun. By placing yourself in situations where you are forced to use your learned language, you’re bound to learn faster.

Namaste,

There are two different methods that are followed for learning Sanskrit -
  • Spoken Sanskrit - Where you learn to speak in Sanskrit without directly studying the grammar rules of Sanskrit. You just apply the rules to form sentences and practice it. It is an easy and modern way to learn Sanskrit.

  • Learning to read and understand Sanskrit - This method requires the study of Sanskrit grammar rules and understanding of the logical process of how a sentence is formed in Sanskrit. You will learn to analyze and form sentences on your own if you study the grammar rules of Sanskrit.
